To build a cutting-edge Warehouse Management System capable of interfacing with current technologies, such as SAP, or replacing them entirely.
Idea
Fulfilld’s Intelligent WMS was successfully deployed to The Home Depot, Inc. in December of 2022 and to Tyson Foods, Inc. in November of 2023.
Execution
When I joined Fulfilld, I inherited a small project with 15 wireframes, no design system, and no style guide. The goal was to create a next-gen, intelligent warehouse management system to modernize the logistics industry.
Our vision was to simplify an industry where most WMS solutions require experts with decades of experience to operate. Fulfilld’s Intelligent WMS is shaped by intuitive, everyday solutions for warehouse workers, all based on the principle of Day 1 productivity.
Since 2021, I’ve had the privilege of leading design for Fulfilld’s Intelligent WMS, building it from the ground up into a 500+ screen application now live and in use at Tyson Foods, Inc.
Backstory
Understanding Our Users
Understanding our users was key to designing an effective WMS. By engaging with warehouse workers, managers, and industry experts we uncovered their daily challenges and needs. Through interviews and data analysis, we developed personas to better empathize with our users, allowing us to prioritize from their perspective. Our goal was always to build a tool that truly supported the people who relied on it most.
Modernizing Warehouses for the Digital Age
Traditional WMS platforms often feel like relics from the past. To modernize the system without overwhelming users with overly futuristic or gimmicky designs, my colleague Delaney Reimers and I created a style guide that blended functionality with modern aesthetics.
The goal was to breathe new life into an old industry, creating a more efficient experience while keeping the design approachable and grounded in the realities of warehouse operations. We also needed to find balance and cohesion between Fulfilld’s WMS and Slotting products to ensure a seamless experience across our platforms. The result was a sleek, user-friendly interface that felt both fresh and familiar.

Well-designed dashboards provide clarity amidst complexity. By presenting real-time data in a concise, easy-to-navigate format, they enable users to quickly assess key performance indicators and make informed decisions.

Configurable tables provide users with the flexibility to create custom views and navigate through extensive datasets with ease. You can adjust columns, sort data, and apply filters to suit your specific needs.

This save layout feature enhances efficiency by ensuring quick access to your preferred table setup, saving time and optimizing your workflow. Detail page links embedded in our tables provide users with deeper insights by offering a comprehensive view of essential data right at their fingertips. These pages don’t just inform—they enable users to take action directly within the context of the data. Whether it's updating statuses, adding line items, or creating and completing tasks, users can perform relevant actions without ever leaving the page.
Once finished, they can seamlessly return to the table they came from, further enhancing workflow efficiency. With everything in one place, users can make informed decisions and act immediately, all within a smooth, uninterrupted experience.
